Charlie Forster Anderson Biography

Charlie Forster Anderson is a rock and roll singer/songwriter who regularly delivers powerful vocal melodies and boisterous electric guitar hooks that will likely be stuck in your head for days on end. His no holds barred lyrical stories are heartfelt reflections of his life growing up in Sydney, Australia. At the age of 6, Charlie's father (a dutch oil & watercolour painter) handed him his first classical acoustic guitar, which Charlie's father had also learnt to play on as a boy. Charlie remembers that day clearly, and has not put his guitar down since. As a multi-instrumentalist and graduate of Sydney University's music performance and songwriting program, his music displays impressive instrument interplay and strong songwriting at the hands of a die-hard muso (as we say down under). After suffering perhaps one too many near death experiences, Charlie has developed an Eagles-esque take it easy attitude to all that life has to offer. Hearing this relaxed yet passionate tone in his vocals is what makes him and his music so enticing, but it’s also what often lands him in trouble. His latest offering Long Story Short (recorded mostly live to 2" tape at Sydney's Linear Studios) canvasses memories of a major life saving heart operation at the age of three, getting chased down by gangs as a teenager, unfortunately being witness to 'too many to keep count' major car crashes and then Charlie's own falling in and out of love... repeatedly... with the same girl. Some would say he has nine lives, but as Charlie would tell you himself, he's not quite sure how many he's used up. However, shying away from the typical dark past singer/songwriter path, he maintains that a once dark past has turned positive through reflection, perspective and songwriting. Luckily, Charlie has managed to carry on level headed and extremely positive despite a crazy introduction to his first twenty-six years of this thing we call life. In 2014, whilst studying a JD (law degree) focusing in music law and intellectual property, Charlie founded independent record label Banta Records to showcase Australian musicians, producing and marketing the records of his mate’s bands. After a chance encounter with producer Nick Franklin (Miley Cyrus, Passenger, The Grates, Daniel Johns), Charlie released his debut EP Banter in 2014 and found himself gaining national Australian community radio play and write ups in a number of international music blogs. In 2016 Charlie ditched his law degree, packed up his guitars and moved to New York City to pursue the American music scene and the aforementioned love of his life. He now hopes to follow in the footsteps of his alt-country song writing idols Ryan Adams, Neil Young and Kings of Leon and tour around North America, Europe and Australia throughout 2016, both solo, and with his band (Nick Franklin on drums, Oliver Marlan on bass and Adam Della-Grotta on guitar) as they showcase Charlie's latest album Long Story Short, was released May 17th 2016. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCYrD4lu0BQ1TwTOq3OyzdQg/videos
