Rigor Mortiss

Rigor Mortis the illegitimate child of his epoch- times of change, chaos and noise. The band was formed in 1990 in Płock. The latin name for “postmostem thickening of the body” became their calling card. The double “s” was added to distinguish Polish noise from American death metallers. In December 1992 RM published its first official material. It was recorded in Gold Rock studio owned by Robert Brylewski (Brygada Kryzys, Armia). The “self-release” form which musicians have chosen to issue their material was also unknown at that time. Soon SPV, renowned record of that times, decided to release Rigor Mortiss as a part of their industrial oriented catalogue “ Radiocative Crucifix”.
Beginning of the 90s was a golden age for the band. They played almost 100 gigs, toured with Variete band and performed at the “old” Jarocin in 1992 and 1993. In 1994 Andrzej Fijołek ( avant-garde sound engineer and video producer, established first private radio in Płock) directed two clips for RG. When Radziu (samplers) left, the band disintegrated.
They return, after twenty years of silence. The original members Maciek Stoliński (vocals) and Jacek Sokołowski (drums) are joined by new blood: Gośka Florczak on samplers and Grzesiek Chudzik on bass. Brand new astonishingly precise material is born.
Contemporary Rigor Mortiis sounds is like ragged Icelandic icebergs’ tops, immense expanse of Scandinavian north, like marriage of Scottish Rosyth port obscured by thick fog at dawn with industrial, torrid afternoon in Ruhr.
Their music is a journey into the deep dark maze of the soul, accompanied by a demolition hammer that rips away the listener from his comfort zone.
Today they create new music genre: industrial minimalism.
