Vana

Vana is a country blues and folk singer from Irene Pretoria. His recent groups include the 'Oh So Serious' and the 'Foot up Folk Trio' with whom he performs in and around Gauteng. His influences include Hank Williams and The Mississippi Sheiks as well as modern time singers Gram Parsons, David Viner and Leon Redbone. The Oh So Serious perform with Pretorian locals Rynier Prins (Double Bass), Rian Britz (Accordion), Schulie Van Heerden (Mandolin), Pierre Van Staden (Blues Harp) stringing together songs and standards from the last 100 years in the country blues and folk genres. Recent activities include the STRAB and Splashy Fen 2012 festivals Oppikoppi, together with venues Tings n Times, Arcade Empire, Cafe Barcelona and Park Acoustics in Pretoria.
