Running Late Biography

Running Late is a Pop/Rock and Alternative band from Madison, New Jersey. It’s founders, Noah Giglio (Guitar/Vocals), brothers Mike (Bass) and John Hall (Saxophone), AJ Zienowicz (Drums) and Alex Fillimon (Cello) were all long-time high school friends in the late-00s. By the summer of 2009 they had formed the band and found a sound they wanted to pursue; a blend of 90’s Pop/Rock with a contemporary commercial sound.

In 2010, Running Late recorded and released their debut self-titled EP, “Running Late”. Shortly after wrapping up their post-release tour, the band replaced Zienowicz for Mark Spelker on Drums, and added Anthony Barretti on Lead Guitar. This new line-up spent the next couple of years writing and performing their new music. In 2014, the band recorded and released their first full length LP titled, “Better Late Than Never”. Shortly after the release of the LP, guitarist Anthony Barretti left the band. Fortunately for them a friend of the band, Chris Ruzicka, stepped up just in time to play Lead Guitar for the upcoming shows.

Following the release of their LP, Running Late got right back to work on their next EP titled, “Summer Solstice”, which was released in the summer of 2015. After a year of shows and tours, the band was ready to undergo a major revamping: dropping guitarist Chris Ruzicka, cellist Alex Fillimon, and replacing Mark Spelker for Pat Fruehling on Drums. The most notable change included the addition of Tessa Drake on lead vocals, while Noah Giglio took on the role of both Lead and Rhythm Guitar.

This marked a major change in Running Late’s sound, which they boldly showed off on their EP, “Comfort vs. Quality”, which was released in the Spring of 2017. However, the band never really found its footing with this line-up, and in early 2018 they replaced Pat Fruehling for Ori Yekutiel on Drums. That same winter, Running Late also replaced Tessa Drake for Lauren D’Imperio on Lead Vocals.

After the numerous line-up changes, the band took their time to find their sound and eventually recorded and released their single, “Rodeo”, in the summer of 2018. Today, the band is still rooted in their original Neo-90s and Pop/Rock sound, and yet they continue to capture the imagination of thousands of people by performing it with a twist. Running Late’s live shows are known for being very electric; filled with high-energy songs, as well as intimate moments. The band is best known for their original music, but they do like to throw in some crowd-pleasing cover songs from time to time.

In the spring of 2019, the band added Tre Davis on Keyboard; marking a return to form to a “full-band” sound after stripping down their line-up in the mid to late 2010s. This year, Running Late is celebrating 10 years of writing, recording, and performing music. Some of the most notable moments for the band include: being selected for the Sony Emerging Artist Showcase (2012), performing alongside Creedence Clearwater Revival at Alive@Five Festival (2014). winning the Hard Rock Café Battle of the Band in Times Square, NYC (2015), headlining the after party for the Stone Pony Summer Stage (2016), and most recently opening for Lifehouse at the QuickChek Festival of Ballooning in 2018.

Moving forward, Running Late has a long list of notable shows coming up (available on RunningLateMusic.com). The band plans to continue writing, recording and performing for many more years to come. In many ways this 10-year anniversary for the band is an affirmation of their commitment to a long-term project. With that, they have started working on their next full-length LP, which is expected for release in the winter of 2020.
