yellowbirddd Biography
Meet yellowbirddd - the solo project from LA-based bass player (Allison Weiss, Psychic Love, Future Feats) and Berklee College of Music-trained Liam McCormack. Beginning in 2010, yellowbirddd has self-released four full-length records and has criss-crossed the country on numerous tours while perfecting his visceral lyrics and vulnerable narration. After daydreaming in the Los Angeles sunshine for almost 3 years, McCormack is set to release You’re Already in Paradise with the help of an IndieGoGo campaign. yellowbirddd has been jokingly called "gentlecore" by McCormack's truest fans due to the often soft, mellow nature of McCormack’s orchestrations. Growing up on his dad's Neil Young records, and later finding himself in the crafted songwriting and introspection of early emo bands, McCormack also has his moments of frustration and angst, a pattern seen throughout his recorded catalog. A fan-favorite from his 2014 CENTINELA record, “Working Through It,” was recently featured on Spotify UK’s Lost in the Woods playlist, which lists “swirling indie folk songs from the deepest depths of the forest.” This past winter, yellowbirddd gained traction while completing a UK tour opening for acclaimed songwriters Allison Weiss and Jenny Owen Youngs. With plans to record in January 2017 and release in Spring 2017, the You’re Already in Paradise LP is promised to be a sonic expansion of yellowbirddd’s brand of indie folk/rock. Enlisting LA-based musician/producer wizards, and close friends, Peter Recine and Joanna Katcher (Julia Nunes, Allison Weiss) to co-produce the album, McCormack is eager to see where his team (and gang of friends) will take his acoustic sketches. If the modern indie pop vibe of new single “Frogtown” is any indication, this may very well be yellowbirddd's most accessible and credible release to date. songs from los angeles
