Lost Axis Biography
Joe comes from a punk rock background. He was born in New Jersey, spent a great deal of time in Florida, and relocated to New York City in 2000. He served as the front man and guitarist for both dogs on ice and his eponymous band Joe Popp while in Tampa, Florida. After relocating to New York he formed The Hornrims, followed by several experimental projects, most recently a TV pilot Popp Over America, about touring the U.S. as a singer-songwriter on a motorcycle. Joe’s bands have opened for many national acts including Green Day, Blink-182, Mike Watt, Joan Jett & The Blackhearts, and Cheap Trick. Shaugn, a native New Yorker, comes from a progressive psychedelic background. He cut his teeth in the ‘80s at NYC clubs like CBGB and The Bitter End, but retired from gigging in the ’90s to earn a doctorate in music theory, going on to lecture and write about the rock music of the late ’60s and ’70s (Beatles, Pink Floyd, Grateful Dead) throughout the ‘00s. After a twenty-year hiatus, Shaugn is out of retirement as lead guitarist of Lost Axis, his first acoustic project. Acoustic Rock Duo
