BE.water Biography

BE.water is an up-and-coming emcee/producer representing Inland Empire, California while currently residing in Chicago, IL. He is on a quest to return the soul and meaning of Hip Hop to its original roots, freedom of expression. “Growing up in the 90’s, I was completely submerged listening to the music that would now be referred to as Hip Hop’s golden age. I enjoyed that time in music because you can sense that the artists loved what they did. The music was real.” BE.water’s initial plunge into music wasn’t entirely Hip Hop related. “I wrote a poem in 8th grade called In the Ghetto,” he recalls, “it received positive reviews from my peers so I just continued to write since then.” He credits Pete Rock and Talib Kweli’s “Fly Till I Die” as his inspiration to take Hip Hop music seriously. “To me, that song epitomizes the essence of Hip Hop. From the beat to the lyrics, the entire presentation was so in tune I felt compelled to make music.” With the passion and determination that BE.water delivers to his craft, he often wonders what the future has in store for him. “I’d love to make money creating music while continuing to stay true to myself. I refuse to sell out. Music is more powerful than we would like to believe; it’s universal. Music needs love again.” BE.water is a Chicago musician in the ONSOL collective. Intuitive, intellectual rhymes, infused with Soul/Jazz/Funk/Electronica. Be formless, shapeless.
