Raksha Biography

Raksha is a six-piece rock band full of tight harmonies, neat beats, and sweet deep slap bass. This young up-and-coming Perth band formed during circus training sessions through a mutual love of music. A recipe of rock, jazz and reggae combine in a pot of upbeat fun that's raisin the roof with its currant blend of tasty jams. PRESS “Among the highlights [at Fairbridge Festival] were the very talented and young six-piece band Raksha, who played to a very enthusiastic crowd at Youthopia on Saturday night. They had the crowd on their feet and dancing throughout the whole set while projections lit up the trees. While playing a very energetic, upbeat set of songs they still proved their talent in many different genres, including rock, folk and punk.” – Ebony Rizzo, AMNplify "The atmosphere of the night was at its peak during Raksha’s set as a result of their addictive tunes, and the crowd they attracted were evidently more familiar with the set than the other groups’ audiences had been, not surprising considering the catchy, sing-along choruses they never fail to produce. Raksha have already accomplished a number of notable feats, and it was evident from their captivating performance that this success is bound to continue and grow." - Carrie Taylor, Teensoul Magazine “6 piece indie-rock outfit Raksha laid out some late afternoon tunes for the punters to kick back to whilst smashing out some addictive melodies and rhythms. The band’s addictive bass lines allowed the listeners to enjoy certain quirkiness to the bands style. Their final song gave the lasting impression with a fast beat and a hard rock edge, particularly with lead singer Amber Scates’ robust soulful vocals.” – The Music Perth "The bands musical talents were displayed in the five number set in a number of techniques. Waterfall guitars dancing majestically with Mother Earth, rising vocals leading into an explosion of a jumping, pulsating, electric chord based rhythms, sing along chorus lines, creeping keyboards that insurrected into a revolution of reggae beat flower bursts. It was as if we were witnessing their collective maturing before our eyes. This was personified by lead vocalist Amber Scates singing more powerfully on each number. Equally she gracefully shared the vocal duties around as the set progressed." - Ausland 181 "Though they have only been together for nine months, Raksha is already making an impression on the WA music scene as the newcomers recently took out the 16 to 18 years division of The Quest Youth Songwriting Competition" - Tyler Brown, Wanneroo-Joondalup Times/Weekender With an innovative blend of rock, psych, jazz and indie hooks, RAKSHA will elevate you to a music plain never heard before!
