About this concert
The first May Bank Holiday... May Day!Labour Day!International Workers' Day!In some cultures it's also recognised as the first day of Summer! And while that surely will not be the case in Byker, we're going to celebrate as if it was! So join us in celebrating the May Queen on SUNDAY MAY 1ST with a FREE BANK HOLIDAY BASTARD BONANZA at The Cluny!Various friends & acts of the musical persuasion will be joining us and first of those to be announced are our good friends Behold A Pale Horse! After taking some time out to focus on such things as recording an album, (in some cases) becoming fathers/continuing to be fathers & just generally being all round top people, the band are about to make a return to live music with a coveted slot at Evolution Emerging 2016 & have kindly agreed to join us for a bit of a warm-up gig... So if you're not yet acquainted with their powerful take on Psych/Kraut//Folk/RocknRoll then don't miss this opportunity to take it in for free! (And if you are already acquainted with them then I'm sure you'll already be coming!)BANK HOLIDAY SUNDAY1ST MAY 2016THE CLUNYFREE ENTRYDOORS: 5PMPlaying live:THE GREAT CURVE www.thegreatcurve.bandcamp.comBEHOLD A PALE HORSE www.soundcloud.com/baphukPLUS MORE TO BE ANNOUNCED...

Newcastle upon Tyne based 5-piece featuring members of Grandfather Birds, Kylver & Last Waltz. Their debut EP, released 13th April 2015 has received 6 Music airplay as well as regional support and is available now via all major digital outlets. The track “The Peril of it All” from the EP was recently featured in NewcastleGateshead’s “The Tyne is Now” advertising campaign. http://www.newcastlegateshead.com/the-tyne-is-now/watch-the-video "Anthemic without being overblown. The songs are full of texture, with shades of light and dark that leave no room for fat or filler.Big Business is big all round, with a massive chorus, glimmering guitars and a crescendo that leaves you beaming with satisfaction; while Carried Away and The Peril of It All have ‘hit song’ written all over them." Narc. "The three tracks are imbued with real heft; guitar based indie/pop which brings to mind the finely balanced work of Aztec Camera, all heart and big tunes."
