Oakhaart Biography

Oakhaart are a Gloucestershire based metal band incorporating progressive and technical elements into their unique sound. Formed in 2012 by Ollie and Max Medlow, the band released the hard hitting debut track Technological Singularity. Shortly after, they acquired bass and rhythm guitar players Michael Perks and Rob Ives. Roughly one year later they had completed a 3 track demo boasting their debut song along with the tracks A Darkened Mind and Uproot. Max Medlow (lead guitars) had recorded all of the vocals on this demo as the band had been searching for a full time frontman since the formation in 2012, but still had no luck. Oakhaart played their first show on the 4th January 2014 and performed as a 4 piece. Shortly after, Sam Shiers (formerly of Tempestora) stepped in on lead vocals and the line up was complete. Oakhaart played their first gig with a full line up on the 8th of March 2014. Following that gig, the band released a new song, The Motives of the Sane, which would complete their self released EP. Oakhaart won the 'Metal to The Masses' competition in the Bristol area, earning them a slot at Bloodstock Open Air Festival 2014 alongside bands such as Down, Megadeth, Emperor. Later that year, they released an exclusive single through the Headbangers Balls charity CD entitled Terra Natura. This was the first recording with Sam showing what he can do. 2015 saw Oakhaart playing more headlining shows and also supporting bands such as Kobra and the Lotus, Xerath and Reign of Fury, the departure of Rob Ives and the introduction to Jason Deakins (formerly of Tempestora) and in between – writing material for the first full Oakhaart album.
