The name Lo’Key came from being more of a listener than a speaker. Lo’key was a natural at entertaining and growing up in a talented musical family meant that Lo’Key Tha YG was always surrounded by different genre’s of music. Lo’key mother was a female rapper and performer aka "Miz Tasti", along with growing up around uncles like recording artist “Kokane”, “Cold 187um of Above the Law”, "Deeg Won", "Keesee", "Mo Bounce" & "Young Lexo". From an early age Lo’Key would study the work of various rap artists such as Kurupt & Daz Dillenger, Brotha Lynch, Scarface, 2 pac, Snoop Dogg, DMX, Mausburg, Jayo Felony, Ice Cube, and Tray Deee, and was able to emulate great artist vocal and rap styles, It was inevitable that Lo’key would have a dream to seek a career as a rapper/songwriter as well as a live performer. This edgy & insightful young man is clear on his views of life as a twenty-two year old, and staying real and in touch with what’s going on in the world, as well as his peers.
