Against Their Will

Based out of Wilson, NC; “Against Their Will” (ATW) is an epic Metal/Hard Rock band ready to take on the world. Formed back in 2006, the band has gone through many lineup changes; with the current group having been solid since 2010. Throughout the years, weak links and poor attitudes severed themselves from the band and eventually led up to the current mix of Bill, Jake, and Logan. Formed on the foundation of previous rivalries, and held together by not only musical chemistry, but the social chemistry off and off stage; you can hear it in their songs that the levels of determination and passion are just right and what is to be expected from the guys will be anything but disappointing. As a whole, ATW sees themselves as having the sound of “old school meets new school”. If you look them up on Reverb Nation or Spotify, you can definitely hear how effectively the guys have drawn influences from powerhouses such as Megadeth, Metallica, and Pantera. This unique sound they’ve created draws in a fan base of both young and old who can easily relate and love their music. When asked about their writing style and process, the guys established that they are “old school with a modern touch”. In songs such as “Dreams of Insanity”, the vocals are raw and bounce between low and grungy to Maiden-esque cleans, the guitars are thrashy and the drums hit heavy. That said, each member brings their own influence and dynamic to the band room, where songs take anywhere from minutes to months to be fully conceived. In some cases, it is as simple as jamming and really getting into something, and ending with “What was that? Let’s do it again!” From writing lyrics that reach out to the current and future fans, to small tweaks of the guitar and bass riffs, and twists on the drums; ATW works together as a well-oiled machine to bring in order to bring to life their songs. The guys go out of their way to socialize online & offline; onstage and offstage with their fans; and as a whole stress the important of good attitudes and relations. As Bill states, “I want to be that musician that people look forward to meeting, playing with, and learning from. I want people to know that they can come to me for anything! It is always great to pass down knowledge to those who seek it.” The guys aim to motivate, to inspire, to impress: they urge their fans to find their own meaning in their songs, and to sing along at shows. They strive to bring together the young and old generation of music fans together with music that both crowds can enjoy; and based on their current following…Mission accomplished.
