Josiah Carr Biography

Josiah Carr was born into a music-loving family in Evans, Georgia. The middle child of five children, Josiah always had a brother or sister around to practice his music with. He started singing at a very early age and wrote his first song at the age of four. His father, Johnny Carr, operated a recording studio as a side business. Josiah spent most of his childhood years singing songs ranging from twinkle twinkle little star to the Backstreet Boys. Recalling memories from his early childhood, his first exposure to performing was singing in the church choir at the Baptist church his family attended. That led to his first solo performance at the ripe age of five. His role model at the age of 8 was Billy Gilman. He constantly told his parents that Billy Gilman was living HIS musical dream. Music became Josiah's first love. Because Josiah's mother Jenny home schooled him and his siblings, Josiah took every opportunity to perform at senior citizen lunches, school field trips, nursing homes and retirement communities. At the age of 12, Josiah won his first songwriting contest in the citywide songwriting contest for the Augusta Chronicle. That set things in motion for Josiah. Josiah started attending public school in the ninth grade, and by his sophomore year of high school, Josiah had enrolled in theatre, chorus and show choir. Josiah headed off to Nashville, TN after recording his first EP in North Carolina in summer of 2011. He had opportunities to sing backup for Ricky Skaggs as well as performing for Chris Young. In August of 2012, Josiah released his first country single, "Drivin' Me Wild" (currently available on iTunes, Amazon and Spotify). After living in Nashville for a year, Josiah took some time off to travel, find himself as an artist, and to learn about musical diversity throughout Europe. He traveled through Iceland, England and Spain and performed in bars throughout Europe during his journey. After traveling, Josiah is now focused and has kicked his career into drive. He is determined now, more than ever, to take country music fans on an exciting ride. Josiah describes his musical genre as "Piano-driven pop music with a hint of southern hospitality." Josiah is currently living in coastal North Carolina and is in the studio recording several original songs. He plans to relocate to Nashville, TN permanently in Fall of 2013. piano driven pop music with a hint of southern hospitality.
