The Rusty Nails are Back! Yes !!!!  - the Band that SMASHED the 'The Basement' last year is playing Slide Lounge in Darlinghurst , Wednesday 11th May 2016! The Nails will be donating net proceeds to The Children’s Hospital at Westmead to purchase a much-needed Lung machine. Rusty Nails is bringing back favourite hits of the 70's, 80's & 90's.  We want to raise money for charity, we want you to have a great night,  and we want to be heroes!! Please put aside the night to join us.  'Rusty Nails' emerged from recognition that there was a large hole.... in the lives of those of us who were desperate to play some good ol' rock music. From the very beginning we have done it our way. We're not slick. We're not refined. And we don't conform. [In fact we sound better after a couple of drinks and a couple more after that...] We believe in artistic and social expression, which comes about, naturally due to our total lack of discipline and stage presence. When we take the stage, we're for real! We are a beacon to those who never want it to end. We are driven by passion, not money or the prospect of a reasonable performance. We are not interested in awards (privately we might covet them!) or accolades (keep them coming). We act out of selflessness. You can't define us or second-guess us. We won't just invite you to watch. We invite you to participate. We will stay true to what we do. The Rusty Nails are: Bass Guitar: David 'Hoby' Hobart - learned to spell the word 'bass' at 12 years of age. Perfected one riff by age 14 and then gave it away. As his career & tennis game deteriorated in his 50's, Hoby was inspired to relearn the bass as it did not require him to move or think as much. Drums: Russel 'Rusty' Armstrong - after 30 years of being belted by the capital markets at Westpac, Rusty wanted to belt something else. Whilst he professes to have played in a band in his teens, it was not evident when the band first hit the rehearsal studio. He has managed to hold his spot. Rhythm Guitar & Vocals: Luke 'Tatts' Tattersall - from pulpit to stage and back again, the journey of Lucky has been a diverse one. Whilst he would rather be surfing the break at Byron, he was prepared to give this up for a spot with the 'Nails'. Tends to go walkabout so anyone coming across him should redirect him back to the stage. Lead Guitar: Ben 'Benno' Singleton - is still wondering how he ended up playing in a group with a bunch of old men. He doesn't particularly like us but we took away the keys to the car so he has to come along. He's the one with the unhappy expression on his face. Vocals: Neil 'Singo' Singleton - has earned his spot in the 'Nails' on the basis that he provided the practice space at the start and his penchant for doing 'Elvis' impersonations. He understands that he is only there until someone else who is not tone deaf comes along. Originally played rhythm guitar but was sacked after the first practice.
