About this concert
Acclaimed British organist Thomas Trotter takes a turn at the multiple keyboards of LA Phil's magnificent pipe organ, fondly referred to as "Hurricane Mama." Fittingly, he'll play "a whirlwind of a piece," "The Dancing Pipes" by Jonathan Dove, which Trotter premiered in 2010, along with works by Bach, Mozart and Schumann. Trotter's wide-ranging concert at the stunning Walt Disney Hall is also set to feature his own arrangement of "The Sorcerer's Apprentice," a popular favorite on the instrument. The organ itself is a collaboration between architect Frank Gehry and L.A. organ designer Manuel Rosales, and has another nickname -- "French Fries" -- thanks to the distinctive look of its pipes.
