Intrinsically contemporary in approach, this ensemble inhabits a lyrical sound world somewhere in the gaps between chamber, jazz, folk and 20th Century classical music - with intriguing traces of Vaughn Williams, Steve Reich, and Esbjörn Svensson Trio. The group will perform pieces from their debut album Footfall, along with some brand new material. Having performed together with Talvin Singh, Katy Carr, Sam Lee, Dunajska Kapelye and the London Klezmer Quartet, this new project combines Curzon and Ter-Berg's shared love of Klezmer, Transylvanian music, melodic lyricism, groove and improvisation. Influenced by Klezmer and other Eastern European folk and gypsy music, Curzon and Ter-Berg combine these traditions with their own unique arrangement style to create a sound that is both timeless and contemporary.
