John Albert Thomas Biography

It's a long story...ask me about it sometime. Here's the music stuff at least: John Albert Thomas began playing the piano at age 5, and began composing original music at age 12. He went on to earn his Bachelor’s degree in Music Theory and Composition from Samford University in 1995. While at the university he also performed in several choral, operatic, and musical theater productions, including Kiss Me Kate and Wuthering Heights. Upon graduation, John moved to Memphis, TN, where he married his wife, Rebecca. They now have four children. John’s music pours out of his faith in Jesus Christ and the priceless worth of each person. It is deeply rooted in Classical influences and reflects his early discovery of contemporary artists such as David Lanz, George Winston, Suzanne Ciani, Andreas Vollenweider, and Enya. His unique, thinly-layered melodic style relaxes the body, penetrates the emotions, and awakens the mind. John’s song “Silver Lining” was featured in a short independent film that was nominated in the 2010 Swan Lake Moving Image and Music Awards in Germany. This song was included with other nominees in the solo piano compilation Acoustic Visions. John’s albums include the following: The Golden Road (1999) Daddy Daughter Dance (2007) Zuzu’s Petals (2009) Now I Sleep (2011) Light Has Come (2015) John is currently working on a project called Music Portraits, which are original pieces of music inspired by remarkable people.
