Bkwds/fwds Biography

BKWDS/FWDS (pronounced backwards-forwards), is a rising band from San Antonio, TX known for their fusion of rap-rock and reggae delivering a positive message and on-stage energy, exhibiting a passion for performing upbeat music. While working on their second album, DJ Mighty Iris of 103.3 The App could only describe the group with a warning, stating “Nick Hexum better watch his back!” as a caution to 311 fans. They released their first EP titled “210” in April 2016 which established their foothold on the alternative rock market in south Texas, and was supported through their EP release tour through south Texas. The band was originally formed in January 2015 in San Antonio, TX as a creative evolution from the member’s previous project ‘Use of Time’. Originally formed by Mike Valadez (vocals), Sergio Amaya (guitar), and David Gonzalez (drums), in mid-2015, Mike Brunson (bass) joined to replace departing bassist and the band shortly began working on their second album, notable for incorporating layers of spacy effects, reggae vibes, and uplifting lyrics. The band members feature a wide variety of musical experience over the past 25 years in the south Texas area with past bands including Sol Tribe, Use of Time, Drop 9, and Texas Alibi.
