Born to musical parents, Christy Vanden grew up moving from place to place, traveling to Mexico in a Volkswagen van, and playing her tiny orange classical guitar from age seven. For some time now, she has been happily touring with Brodie, who recognized immediately, the talent within. Asked to join alongside Brodie and hoist an electric guitar has proved to be a perfect match. Combining forces as part of this touring trio of fantastic female musicians is allowing her old soul talent to shine! Her performance on the Sunfest Country Music Festival (2014) main stage, which supported crowds of 30 000 that weekend was pure magic. At age 20, Christy is bringing her own style of playing to an old school, revered club of ‘Those that wield a Fender Stratocaster American Tradition, Electric Guitar’. This girl is not all power and push - she is equally at home picking beautifully on her acoustic, entrancing you with her smartly crafted songs and delicate sweet voice. Feeling she is finding her place in music, she hopes to continually improve her art and deepen her songwriting. She leaves her trademark charismatic and percussive signature everywhere she goes. Whether performing on radio, on stage, or in the concert hall, Ms. Riley has kept company with some of the best; a list which includes but no limited to: Odetta, K.D.
