Stacy Arnold-Classical Guitarist Biography

Stacy Arnold is a classical guitarist in Dallas, Texas who is recognized for his artistry as a concert soloist, recording artist, and educator whose concert performance has been described by the Evangel University Artist Series as “a variety of guitar music, stylistically pleasing in every way” and applauded for his innate musicianship, virtuosity, and beautiful tone. The Cass County Performing Arts Council has described his concert appearance as “generous and delightful”. Mr. Arnold has toured throughout the United States at Universities, Colleges, Arts organizations, music festivals, and various concert and artist series. Mr. Arnold’s concerts are characterized by performances that represent the entire history of the guitar, presenting composers from the 16th century Renaissance to the modern day, with an emphasis on the music of Spain and Latin America.

Stacy Arnold is professor of classical guitar studies at Dallas Baptist University where he directs the guitar program. Mr. Arnold holds a Master of Music degree in guitar performance from Southern Methodist University’s Meadows School of the Arts where he was a graduate teaching assistant under the tutelage of internationally acclaimed concert guitarist and teacher Robert Guthrie. He also holds a Bachelor of Music degree in guitar performance from Middle Tennessee State University where he studied under the guidance of Dr. William Yelverton. He has been guided in master class instruction by David Tanenbaum (San Francisco Conservatory of Music) and Robert Guthrie (Taos, New Mexico).

Stacy Arnold’s debut recording Eli’s Gift has been enthusiastically described as “excellent, very expressive and emotive……a great, warm rich tone to the guitar and the playing is deeply poetic.” Eli’s Gift is a portrait of guitar composers from the 16th century Renaissance to the 20th century that features beautiful and virtuosic music and includes selections from the first Cello Suite by J.S. Bach and various etudes by Cuban composer Leo Brouwer from his Estudios Sencillos. The recording features the music of J.S. Bach, Heitor Villa-Lobos, Francisco Tarrega, Antonio Lauro, Leo Brouwer, Fernando Sor, Luis Milan, and Luis de Narvaez.

Mr. Arnold’s students have been accepted for Undergraduate and Graduate guitar performance study for Doctor of Musical Arts (D.M.A.), Performance Diploma, Masters of Music, and Bachelors of Music degrees at Southern Methodist University’s Meadows School of the Arts, The University of North Texas, Texas Woman’s University, Texas State University, and hold positions as the professor of guitar studies on college campuses.
