The Counterfeit Umbrellas Biography
A pop-folk fanfare of toe-tapping melodies, soaring harmonies and happy high hopes ; that's the joy-evoking sound that Brisbane group, The Counterfeit Umbrellas bring to the stages and ears they grace. Since debuting their much-loved first single, "I Will Be Your Home" in 2014, the band have opened for some of Australia's finest acts including Ash Grunwald, Busby Marou, Gangajang and Mental as Anything. Their other notable feats include receiving nationwide radio play for their music, being crowned the winners of the 2015 Westfield Sound Search, and appearing at major music events such as the Caxton Street Festival (with Thelma Plum, The Beautiful Girls and DZ Deathrays) and the Story Bridge 75th anniversary celebrations (with Tkay Maidza, Short Stack and Samantha Jade). After six months in the studio writing and recording with ARIA nominated Producer Stuart Stuart (Sheppard, The Veronicas), the group have released their self-titled debut EP. The hotly-anticipated record features the smash hit single, 'Hold Back the Sun', described by Music is My Muse blog as, "a sweet and uplifting tune that will melt even the most pessimistic of hearts". You can catch them live at this year's Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers (September), Caloundra Music Festival (October) and Red Deer Festival (October), amongst other local and nation-wide shows. A pop-folk filled fanfare of toe-tapping melodies, soaring harmonies and anthems of happy high hopes.
