About this concert
The Mitchell is downtown's newest addition. The Mitchell, in its simplicity, is a friendly neighborhood bar. The difference is in the details. An elegant, lavishly decorated space that incorporates much of the old building, built in the 1920's. An enclosed patio with swank custom sofas and hanging lanterns remove the noise and bustle from Main Street. Inside of the building, its high vaulted ceilings, gold glass beaded wallcovering and original red brick walls highlight the finer touches in its design. A long dark blue alligator sofa allows the guest to relax and sample our small, chef-driven menu, house cocktails or sip one of our many champagnes. Whether it's a Beer and a Burger, Muscadet and Oysters or Champagne and Caviar, The Mitchell will deliver. Catch Hale and her accompanist du jour every Friday in January at The Mitchell. On January 22nd, Hale will be accompanied by Colin Campbell.

Hale Baskin Biography

Those just learning about Hale are still in plenty of time to get in on experiencing the rapid-fire growth of this impressively talented and swingin’ young chanteuse. After all, with two CDs as a leader to her credit, plus a basketful of performance awards and even a pair of European tours, Hale Baskin is just getting started! Early in her career, she won the DownBeat Magazine Award for Best Student Vocalist on two separate occasions. That's a strong call out from a pretty authoritative source, to put it mildly! Hale's first CD was recorded in 2005 to happy reviews. The eminent producer and writer Dr. Herb Wong said of Forecast, "Hale Baskin has all the tools. She sings with admirable taste and control, rhythmic and harmonic sense, and clear insight into the jazz tradition. So dig!" Soon after her first recording, Hale was invited to appear onstage with Arturo Sandoval at the famed jazz club, Yoshi's. That performance inspired Jim Harrington of the Oakland Tribune to write, "[I]t looks like we have a rising star in our midst. Remember Baskin's name. You'll be hearing it again soon." And now, thanks to her newest album, Classic, we are hearing Hale Baskin's name, and her music, again. Get ready for more. You're going to like it. HALE BASKIN AND HER JAZZ ADDICTION
