The Bishop's Daredevil Stunt Club Biography

The Bishop's Daredevil Stunt Club has been at the forefront of the Chicago power pop scene since 2008. Its 2010 premier album, “The Bishop,” initiated what would be a fast-growing career, followed close behind by the 2011 release of “Five Minutes of Panic and Thrills.” The latter album showcases the depth and range of the band’s songwriting talents with power pop rockers like “Promises Made” and “The Least”; ballads such as “Timebomb”; and the introspective, neo-psychedelic mood song “Mice and Elephants.” In 2013, when the self-titled “The Bishop’s Daredevil Stunt Club” hit the scene, the band began to truly come into its own and achieve some critical acclaim. The album is a tight collection of catchy songs like “Killing My Timeline” and “Come On Down” that earned the band set time at some of Chicago’s premier venues, such as Double Door and the House of Blues. In 2014, the band released the EP “Veva, Hold On!” featuring songs like “Bob’s Yer Uncle,” “Treat Yourself” and “Singlehandedly” that drew the attention of regional, national, and international critics and radio stations. The band was featured on WGN, WXRT, Fearless Radio and WIUW, and received great feedback from respected music tastemakers. The band’s growing fan base responded by filling top concert venues that year, including Chicago’s venerable Metro. The Bishop’s Daredevil Stunt Club draws from diverse influences of contemporary music. Song arrangements are the product of technique, style and innovation with great attention to detail in the areas of tone, rhythm, harmony and song structure. The band’s instrumentation is largely guitar-based but includes a wide range of other instruments, such as keys, trumpet, synth, harmonica, percussion instruments and even occasionally a theremin or ukulele, to craft unique sounds, moods and tones. The resulting musical arrangements are an orchestrated backdrop for intricate and often stylistic vocal phrasings suited for lyrics that may take a variety of forms: introspective, narrative and even humorous at times. The band’s members are individually talented, each with rich experience in the Chicago music scene. William Giricz's strong vocal character and range add a distinct style to the band’s music. The multi-instrumental William leads the band’s creative process, sings lead vocals and plays lead guitar on most songs. Dan Passarelli contributes the low end with bass lines that drive progressions and sometimes lend a melodic counterpoint. The multi-instrumental Paulette Bertrand contributes guitar and keys to arrangements and sings lead vocals on a number of songs, adding her own unique dimension to the band’s sound. Darin "Cappy" Gregg, who plays guitar and trumpet, brings creativity and energy to the band’s stage performances. Matt Greenawalt contributes on drums drawing from an eclectic musical background.
