the Jolly Beggars

After Bob Hay performed his first Burns Night concert upstairs at The Globe in downtown Athens in January 2002, some of his former band-mates from the Squalls expressed interest in playing along. During the next five years, the Jolly Beggars produced two albums of Robert Burns' songs and played regularly in Athens as well as traveling to Chattanooga, Savannah, Atlanta, and other places in Georgia to play. Since 2008, they have played less frequently, but have made it a point to celebrate Burns Night in Athens on The Bard's birthday at various venues. This year they are looking forward to an extra-special event at The Foundry as they carry on the annual Robert Burns celebration! Doors open at 6:00 p.m. for dinner and drinks.
