Suzanne Monroe Biography
The Music
Entranced by music that swirls into memories of another life, you walk down an old victorian hallway. Opening a door into a small study, you discover a vintage record player playing an old vinyl. Suddenly you’re somewhere from the past, you know you have been here before framed in a time that draws you deeply into this precious experience. Gentle hues of baby blue and fierce tones of rust orange encircle your body as nostalgia folds sweet comforting sadness around your being. A moment that starts coloring new perspectives and unlocking a journey into your soul.
The Story behind the Masks
The masks are filled with symbolism and represent the spirits who accompany us to explore the rooms of our entire being. Upon your soul path the unicorn, your ultimate source of spirit, brings you to a place of magic; Increasing intuition, spiritual connection, and creativity. The second spirit is that of a wolf, representing the body, empowering fearlessness, intelligence, sensitivity, and bravery. The third in the trinity is the owl and associated with the mind, helping to embrace wisdom, clairvoyance, awareness, and new beginnings. Your spirit guides encourage you to seek your authentic self. They advise you to accept both the darkness and the lightness of who you are, bringing together complete harmony of your body, mind and spirit.
The Storyteller
Change, loss and heartbreak are no stranger for Suzanne Monroe. At a very young age she dealt with constant instability. It began with her family moving repeatedly, having to change schools, losing best friends and having to make new ones. She mourned the death of her grandmother, and the loss of her parents' union as they divorced. The most detrimental moment for her was when she was 18 years old. Her father, Dennis died suddenly of a heart attack at the age of 56 in 2006. Left as a lone wolf she began searching even deeper for the meaning of life and found solace in spirituality. During her time as a lone wolf, she learned about the grace that solitude can give. At the same time, her sadness was so loud that her muse was silenced. When she moved to Austin in June of 2012 she created her own wolf pack including her band, and close knit community. In 2014 she was Inspired by the Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron and her friends to reconnect with her imagination. She released creative blocks and began to write again. Seeing her face in the mirror, she started to understand her true self. This caused a spiral of rapid spiritual development, a search for authenticity and self-reliance. Her new album, Face to the Mirror combines her personal life experiences, childhood folk stories and whimsical Celtic lore. It brings you into tales of adventure, love, and loss. Suzanne encourages you to put your own face to the mirror and reflect upon your hero's journey.
