Forest Falls Biography

IF THE MUSIC WORLD REQUIRES any evidence that the time is nigh for Australian charge Forest Falls, it needn’t look further than the following list of accolades. The band has performed blockbuster supports with Husky (Australia) and Paper Lions (Canada), delivered a capacity Parlour gig in Melbourne’s leafy East, appeared onstage at St Kilda Fest and Melbourne’s Finders Keepers Markets, released critically acclaimed EP ‘Hounds’, performed sold-out EP tour shows at Melbourne’s Workers Club, received Best Band, Best EP, and Best Live Performance line honors (Spreading the Seed), and featured in coveted performances on Balcony TV Australia, Tram Sessions (Melbourne), Vulture TV (Australia), and 774 ABC Melbourne with Lindy Burns. Big, bold and defiantly honest, it’s the Forest Falls Sound that affords the band its reputation. Multi-part vocal harmonies weave unashamedly between a warmly orchestrated palette of guitars, keyboards, strings and brooding, 80s-influenced, hook-laden beats. Never overdone, always perfectly measured. Marking a distinct and exciting evolution to 2015’s EP ‘Hounds’, Archipelago Heart is the latest single from Forest Falls. A fiery, otherworldly classic with gratifying beats and 80s-influenced instrumentation, the track showcases brooding synths and rhythms with a folk-based lyrical edge reminiscent of Cliff Martinez's 2011 soundtrack to 'Drive'. Staunch in its conviction, Archipelago Heart pairs a strong political message about the beauty of modern love in all its forms with a fully expanded sound and an earworm chorus to die for. Archipelago Heart is the first in a collection of works titled Modern Love, set for online release throughout 2016. The common thread amongst the tracks is an exploration of the simple, powerful idea that love knows no boundaries. “The space-like aesthetic of Archipelago Heart is all about The Overview Effect”, says Jon Forest, lead singer and songwriter. “That shift in awareness astronauts have reported when looking down at Earth and realising that we’re all in this together. With Archipelago Heart, this first installation of the Modern Love collection, we tackle the issue of ‘love for displaced people’; we are a band being honest in its convictions, and sound”. Produced in Forest’s own studio and mixed by Steven Schram (Clairy Browne & The Bangin’ Rackettes, Paul Kelly, San Cisco), Archipelago Heart is a perfect thematic introduction to Forest Falls’ evolved sound. The track’s hooky, alt-pop edge is perfectly measured and never overdone, displaying a class and honesty that sets the single apart from the pack. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aOgRViaoqTM http://forestfallsband.com/ #doyoubelieveinmodernlove Latest single from the Modern Love collection: Archipelago Heart
