R.E.F

R.E.F. (Redeemed Equipped Forgiven) is a born and bread Idaho boy who was raised in an alchoholic enviornment by a mother who genuinely wanted the best for him and a father with serious demons in his life that he'd never be able to fully let go of untill it was far too late. After living on the streets and finding a family in the punk rock scene R.E.F. (AKA Tom Mong) found Christ at the age of 13 and struggled throughout his teenage years with drugs, alchohol and sex . Before making hip hop his home he played guitar and bass guitar in several different secular and christian punk rock and heavy metal bands, in which he toured much of the west coast playing in. At the age of 17 his lifestyle would catch up to him, and he found out that his long time girlfriend (now wife) was pregnant with their first child. At this point is where His relationship with Christ really came to the forefront of his life and he decided to allow God to do the work in him that he'd known was destined since accepting Christ early in his teenage years. While always having a love for hip hop, R.E.F. would eventutally stop playing guitar and pick up a mic, making a vow to use it to praise God and God only. He said that; "Trying to find a group of like minded musicians who are believers and followers in Christ is a rough thing to do, so i decided to step out in faith and bring my love for hip hop to life" and sure enough, he did. In 2011 R.E.F. released his first demo e.p. which featured many artists from around the United States including one track with labelmate B-Boy For Christ" In 2012 he then released his Everyday Battle E.P. which also featured a track with BBC plus was featured on 20 + songs with other artists from all around the world, picking up radio play on several top tier christian and secular radio broadcasts. In early 2013 R.E.F. released a spoken word video in which he shares his testimony, followed by Everyday Battle Chopped and Screwed by DJ Spage G and finally his debut God Sqwad Records release, the Mixed Emotions and Mashed Potatoes Mixtape. In 2015 R.E.F. featured on the God Sqwad group release "The Kingdom is Near" along side label mates B-Boy For Christ (Now Tae Lamar) and Geddenon.
