Mackenzie McRuer Biography
Born in Calgary, Mackenzie McRuer spent his formative years in Markham. McRuer drew inspiration from artists such as Ray LaMontagne, John Butler, Noah Gundersen and Neil Young as a young singer-songwriter striving for honesty and intimacy in his music. Performance opportunities have grown from local venues in York Region to The Rivoli and Horseshoe Tavern in Toronto and The Summerfolk Music & Crafts Festival in Owen Sound. McRuer signed with Cameron Kennedy of Splintered Wood Records to produce his debut album "Running" that was released December 2014. The album features an array of instruments and is the culmination of dedication and maturity for McRuer. According to McRuer, "So far, it's been a long road, but [following the album release] I feel as though I'm running." McRuer is kicking off 2015 with performances in the Greater Toronto Area to promote his album "Running". Debut album out now on iTunes, Bandcamp, Amazon, Spotify, Google Play and more! https://itun.es/ca/HYE04
