The wide variety of genres and subgenres in modern music are endless. So the question is: why limit ourselves to just one? Lucidea, born in the heart of the South, started as a two-piece electro-fusion project fueled by the passion and creativity of Producer/Pianist Josh Bell, and Progressive Metal and jazz Inspired Guitarist Thomas Garrett. With a love for intricate melodies and polyrhythms, strong, hard-hitting backbeats, and seamless transitions, Lucidea is a culmination of styles ranging from downtempo to prog-electronica, improv/Jazz and Southern Hip-Hop. After lots of dedication and effort, the band has decided to round out the “Lucidea Trio” with the addition of drummer Steve Lawrence. This new addition into their sound has begun to take their music to the next level, setting them apart from traditional “jamtronica”. After a whirlwind spring and summer full of touring and festivals, the Trio is set to keep the momentum moving forward. They're happy to put on their resume a hometown show that resulted in winning the Waka Winter Classic and performing at Wakarusa, relentless touring of the southeast and midwest, and sets at festivals such as Counterpoint and Sweetwater 420 Fest. A spring 2015 release of their first full length LP, Jamtronicgroovebox, heralded a review from The Untz that landed them among the hottest rising acts in the Jamtronic scene. As the group looks forward throughout 2016, Lucidea is set to reach new ears and win over fans nationwide.
