Nick 13 Biography
NICK 13 is a singer/songwriter who's work echoes mid-twentieth century country music with a modern twist: Americana drawing on honky-tonk, California & Outlaw country.
Perhaps best known for his band Tiger Army (who celebrated their 25th year in 2021), he’s not the first rock ‘n’ roller to have a love affair with country music, so his musical journey following punk back to its early rock ’n’ roll roots, then further to hillbilly & bluegrass shouldn’t be as surprising as it might at first seem.
His live solo debut at the Stagecoach Festival on the Palomino Stage immediately prior to Ray Price and Merle Haggard in 2010 drew many favorable notices (including the LA Times) & he returned in 2013. His eponymous debut album produced by legendary Americana musicians Greg Leisz & James Intveld was released by Sugar Hill Records in 2011.
The surrounding years saw performances at more festivals like Austin City Limits, live performances on legendary country music radio station WSM Nashville (including "Americana Carnival" & "All Nighter") & multiple US tours.
His video for "All Alone" was played on Great American Country, but his biggest video successes came with "Carry My Body Down" & "Nighttime Sky", both of which spent multiple weeks at #1 on the CMT Pure 12-Pack Countdown. Nick was also featured on Yahoo! Ram Country "Music With A View". His second Gretsch signature model guitar was released in 2020.
His solo work has been on hiatus for the past several years, but he's indicated in interviews & on social media that it's never been far from his mind. Look out for new solo music and shows in the future!
