COPS ON HORSES

COPS ON HORSES are an alternative/indierock band from Southern Ontario, Canada. Formed in 2012 their name pays homage to the Great White North, taking inspiration from artists like Arkells, Ladyhawk and Attack In Black. “We like to make music that people can connect with. We hope to take our fans to a happy place, start a party and make em’ dance!” The band was formed in 2012 with roots dating back to Elementary School. Spence (lead vocals), Nate (bass) and Mitch (lead guitar) all went to a rural school outside of their hometown of Dunnville, Ontario where they began playing music at a young age. By High School the guys had formed their own hardcore band called Lady Muskoka, and got their first taste of playing live and messing around in the studio. They recorded an EP and performed in and around Southern Ontario but by the end of High School and College around the corner, the band slowly fizzled out. It wasn’t until after 2 years of College where Spence began writing new material from his dorm. He wanted to stray away from their hardcore roots and take a new direction, and by graduation he returned home with a demo. Spence setup a jam session with his old band mates where he met Kalem (drummer) and Ridge (keys), and it wasn’t long until they were in the studio recording what became Cops On Horses’ debut self-titled EP. Since then they’ve toured extensively throughout Ontario, playing alongside artists like Adam Baldwin, Sam Cash & The Romantic Dogs, Poor Young Things and The Matinee, as well as support for Ladyhawk and Marine Dreams during their Decade of Passive Aggression Tour 2013. They also performed at SCENE Music Festival 2014, which included well known artists like The Sheepdogs, Monster Truck, Lights, Mariana’s Trench, The Glorious Sons and Arkells to name a few. Cops On Horses’ most recent EP Instigator was recorded and produced by Mitch Bowden (Chore, Don Vail, Broken Social Scene) and is available now on iTunes and Spotify. Currently the band is touring across Ontario and gearing up to record their 3rd release. Alternative/Indie rock band from Dunnville, ON.
