Unplugged for the Cottage. diet dangfly!, Beauty and the Beard, Josh Perkins and Tiny Arkestra rock out for this Benefit that is close to all of our Hearts. Little Kings on November 12th (11/12!) from 6:00 to 9:00. This is to benefit The Cottage Sexual Assault Center and Children's Advocacy Center. They raise awareness and facilitate the healing of individuals, families and communities affected by sexual violence and child abuse. They run the 24/7 hotline for sexual assault survivors at any stage in their recovery. They also do forensic exams of children who have been abused so that it's a better process for the kid and the kid's caregivers, and aids in the prosecution of the abuser. They also provide free counseling for survivors, which is what this raises money for. If survivors can get good therapy they are less likely to fall victim to some of the many bad outcomes of having been abused (like becoming an abuser themselves, becoming an addict, or being suicidal). This year we're also incorporating the 1Blue String campaign, that brings attention to the fact that 1 in 6 boys is a survivor of childhood sexual abuse. $15 / 21+
