Stereomother Biography

Stereomother started as a solo recording experiment by Kentucky Clawson during 2011. Throughout 2012 Kentucky Recorded and released various pieces of music independently and played in fusion with LA band Wirewalker to push both Ryan and Kentucky's music in the local area until 2013 when they split due to distance issues. At that point Kentucky began writing and playing with Robert Conrad and Brandon Shulkin from fellow Burbank band Attic Empire. During the writing of Attic Empire's first LP, Kentucky went looking for other avenues of making music and began making hip hop music with artist Stephan Charles who introduced Kentucky to Jim Nelson who was also jamming with Stephan while also focusing in on his beats and electronic music. Jim and Kentucky became fast friends while recording APE-uhthetic with Stephan and various other rappers then shortly after began recording and working on "ME" with Robert and Jim as a 3 piece working long nights at MI. During Kentucky's stint at MI he met Eric Suppes who joined the band and created tagent band The Interstellar Overdrive consisting of Rob, Kentucky, Jim, and Eric. The group wrote and played together around California for quite a while and Robert briefly split to focus on Attic Empire and their LP so Kentucky, Jim, and Eric began playing as Stereomother once more booking shows as a 3 piece. The group played frequently and enjoyed writing together releasing many singles and the records "We Ain't Trying to Do No Geometry" but in January of 2015 Eric moved back to Pennsylvania due to the rent being too damn high. During this in between period, as Jim had sadly moved an hour from bbank, Kentucky produced "1515" with longtime friend Kyle Duncan who then agreed to be the bands 5th member as an engineer, producer, and psuedo managerial demigod. After that, Kentucky, Jim, Brandon, and Robert began talking about starting the project back up for real following the release of the most recent Attic Empire record "Astro Getaway" and began work again in mid January. So here we are now, in the 2 months that the new lineup has been together the band has played many shows in the LA area, recorded 2 live videos, and is hard at work sculpting a sound and getting tighter and tighter and tighter and tighter and tighter and tighter and tighter and tighter and tighter and tighter and tighter.... We're Stereomother, we are a force to be reckoned with, and we haven't even begun. We’ll beat up your dad. Don’t fuck with us.
