When Forever Comes

Meet The Guys: Allan Every one of us has a purpose. We have a responsibility to figure out what it is. For me, it came at an early age. I learned to play guitar at a young age. My grandfather and I would sit around, playing and singing Bluegrass, for hours. Then i saw Johnny Lang in Blues Brothers 2000… And i was hooked! I got my first electric on my 10th birthday, a Yamaha EG 112. I would put in CDs and try to learn the songs. I also took lessons from and amazing player, Darren Aldridge. Fast forward a few years. My dad's job moved us from Gaston County to Raleigh. We join a church and I start helping with the worship team. It was a traditional church so not alot of rockin' and rollin' going on. Some friends told us about a biker church that was starting up… "Biker church? Really?" I'd been around motorcycles growing up so we decided to check it out. It ROCKED MY WORLD! A bunch of Jesus-Lovin' bikers on the side of the road. And that's when it hit me. God spoke to me and said, "You need to use the music I gave you for ME." So, once the church got established, I eventually joined the worship team and the band Second Chance. We played gigs almost every weekend for 2 years, including 2 trips to Sturgis Bike Week. Alfred Ward and JD Tew became two of my closest friends and mentors, and continue to be today. In 2008, my brother, Harrison and I formed When Forever Comes. We wanted to take our music to the next level and reach out to others with the Love and Hope we have in Christ. Over the next 5 years, we played shows all across NC and the east coast, meeting people and sharing Jesus. Our family felt God leading us to follow him in a new venture. We left Freedom Clayton to join JD and Kellie in Fayetteville and have been there ever since. Serving God with music is a dream come true. I heard it said once that "God gave us music so we could pray without words." I think that sums it up for me. Harrison Any person that has seen Harrison play has experienced what happens when he and his bass guitar meet the stage. His personality explodes, and his heart for the music is evident. At age 10, he began playing bass. By 15, he was writing music and singing lead vocals for the band. Harrison explains, “When Forever Comes is a gift and opportunity for me to do what I love and also use it to reach members of other bands, for Christ. It is important to me to reach out to groups no one else reaches out to.” Jerry Jerry started playing drums in the 4th grade. He spent several years learning to read music while playing in the school symphonic, orchestra and marching band. When he got his first kit in the 8th grade the Rock N Roll bug bit him. Jerry likes a wide variety of music and his drumming style has been influenced by them all including big band music, R&B, blues, alternative and heavy rock. Jerry played with the rock band Gibraltar out of Fayetteville, NC in the 80’s. He traveled quite a bit and gained invaluable experience playing live and writing music. His drumming style and philosophy was honed at this time. “All the hot drum fills you can pack into a song will never beat a good solid Rock beat that makes you bang your head”. After a few years of running the roads Jerry put his drumsticks down in 1988. In 2010 Tracy King invited Jerry to attend Worship at Freedom Biker Church Fayetteville. After a series of events that could only be orchestrated by God himself, Jerry was invited to sit in on drums with the Worship band. Although, he was a little rusty, it went very well. There were only two guitars and drums at that time. Jerry had played to screaming audiences at clubs, fairs and festivals. What he saw and felt that morning at Freedom was something more than he’d seen before. The transformation on faces as the Holy Spirit filled the barn was more than he ever expected. Jerry has played on the Worship Team at Freedom Biker Church Fayetteville ever since. He has also played with Second Chance and is proud to play in When Forever Comes with his Freedom Brothers. Jerry loves playing drums and is embarrassed he let a God given talent lie dormant for 22 years. However, he now knows why he was given this talent and has stated he will not play a single note unless it is to Praise, Worship and Glorify the one true living GOD and his Son our Lord and Savior JESUS CHRIST. Tyler Tyler has spent most of his life in music. He started his musical journey with chorus in middle school and then with piano at age 12. After growing up with Allan and Harrison he picked up the guitar at age 16 and has been playing ever since. He has been playing with the two brothers in When Forever Comes since 2009. He has played with other groups and leads worship for a local youth group. He has played shows up and down the east coast and loves to travel. The most important part of music to him is using it as a way to worship. Tracy Tracy was given his first guitar by his grandmother Nadine at age 12. She was trying to keep him out of trouble and he just wanted to rock. He practiced every day and was self-taught by using chord charts and guitar music books. He continued to play through his teens and early twenties. He would play with his friends, but never had the opportunity to play with a band. Life took over and he was forced to put the guitar down until he was in his mid-forties. He began going to church and met Alfred Ward, a professional contract guitarist who gave lessons. Tracy took lesson for about one year. He would practice most evenings when he got home from work and began to collect guitars for different sounds and purposes. Alfred, who also led the church worship team asked Tracy to play with them. God was really working on him. He was excited, but nervous as he wasn’t sure his skills were worthy of the Lord.. After much self reflection and prayer, Tracy felt led to become a permanent member of the worship team where he continues until this day. He continues to practice most evenings trying to make his performance the best he can for the Lord. As it is written in Colossian 3:16 “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs with thankfulness in your hearts.” It is Tracy’s prayer, with a thankful heart that his music lifts and praises the name of Jesus Christ.
