Pop Goes the Evil Biography
Pop Goes the Evil isn’t afraid of the taboo. Murder, isolation, sex, jealousy, profanity, self-examination — you name it, they touch on it. Pop Goes the Evil is a straightforward rock group, but its multifaceted musicality is evident, especially during live shows, in a soundscape evoking rockabilly, overt hints of pop, and elements of glam rock. In under two years they have toured extensively promoting their 2 studio albums and were nominated for best rock artist and best new artist by the Cincinnati Entertainment Awards. Imagine that Jack White, David Lynch, Jello Biafra, Crispin Glover and Tim Burton all collaborated to write the score for a musical, based on the writings of Syd Barrett. That will give you a rough idea of Pop Goes the Evil's new album Love Stained Heart. Religion, death, sex -- especially sex - beauty, pain, power -- they all have a role to play in the language and lyrics of PGTE’s sophomore album; poetry that is written in a rhyme-scheme like a perverted Dr. Seuss book. Pop Goes the Evil is one of a kind in a crowded indie rock landscape. You'll hear pinches of surf, rockabilly and Elvis Presley on top of comic-sinister lyrics, heavy rhythms and distorted, rocked-out guitar. Their goal is to inspire people everywhere to take pride and delight in their deepest darkest secrets. Listen to Pop Goes the Evil, and you just might feel inspired to truly “Be Yourself.” We put the "I" in "Be Yourself".
