D. Ramirez Biography

The D Ramirez name has been synonymous with cutting edge, forward thinking sound since the release of ‘that’ genre defining remix of Bodyrox’s 'Yeah Yeah' Top 40 #1 in the mid-noughties, but it’s the rich tapestry of production that followed that continues to make tidal waves across the industry. From Space Ibiza, Womb in Tokyo to Avalon in LA; or smashing sets at iconic festivals Glastonbury, Secret Garden Party, Global Gathering and Australia Day in Sydney; D Ramirez is a definitive crowd puller across the globe. Ivor Novello nominee Ramirez is responsible for a multitude of ground breaking releases such as 2009’s #1 underground anthem 'Downpipe' with Underworld & Mark Knight, the Cevin Fisher collaboration ‘Restless’ (Great Stuff) which became a catalyst for the explosion of the 2012 ‘G-House’ scene, while '2016's summer hit 'Brutal Power' (Slave Recordings) hit the #2 slot in the main Traxsource chart and stayed in the Top 10 for the following month, championed by the likes of Armand van Helden, Fatboy Slim, BTraits, MK & Adam Beyer. Ramirez's remix talents are frequently called upon by fellow producers such as the legendary Todd Terry, David Penn and Darren Emerson, cementing his reputation as one of the industry’s most well respected ‘go to’ names for collaboration. Ramirez has recently elevated to almost guru status within the production world; a key contributor to the new Toolroom Academy, a tutor for Subbass DJ Academy in London, while his YouTube ‘Masterclass’ sessions have had over 5 million views collectively. He was also invited to become Denon DJ’s spokesman and demonstrator for their new MCX8000, with the unveiling and demo performance at Dancefair 2015 in Utrecht. 2016 saw Ramirez re-launch his Slave Recordings imprint, originally conceived in 2004. The label's last release was back in 2010, but since it’s inception Slave has hosted tasty tech, electro and progressive house from a range of revered artists including Seamus Haji, Deepgroove, Justin Drake, Rene Amezs, Kristoph, Cagedbaby & Paul Woolford. Slave’s exports were a vital component for the inception of the electro house phenomenon that kicked off around the mid-noughties. With a release schedule packed full of secret weapons to be unleashed via Slave in the coming year, this is one star permanently poised on the brink of supernova. Drawing influences from every new sub-genre of house, D Ramirez productions are timeless, having sourced the perfect formula as to what drives dancefloors to pure destruction. DJ/Producer, Founder @ Slave Recordings, Contributor @Toolroom Academy.
