Native Fauna Biography

Industrial disorientation, and the beauty of the pop beast turned on it's fat belly, Native Fauna's music is dark and Post-Punk in a way that is timeless, yet firmly grounded in the present. Through the use of driving rhythms, analog instruments, stunning projections with modern and esoteric allusions, Native Fauna aims to challenge the audience and deliver an experience. "The audience is far more intelligent and deep than people give them credit. I am consistently surprised at what people pick up on...no matter how much I may think it's buried in mystery. People are seeking something within the darkness. It's personal, universal...it's profound and beyond verbal language. This is a phenomenon that totally gets me off." Native Fauna was born as the moniker for what originated as the solo project of experimental multi-media artist, musician and producer Cameron Murray. Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, where she graduated from CalArts, Murray went on to play and work with members of the bands Spindrift, Christian Death, The Horrors, Brian Jonestown Massacre, Bubonic Plague (Geneva Jacuzzi) and The Centimeters, further fine-tuning the band lineup and innovative recording processes, delivering a vast catalog of lush recordings and a truly unique live show. As of June 2015, Native Fauna is currently booking shows, creating art and recording in Europe. They return to their home planet of the U.S. in July. The Native Fauna are currently unsigned and roaming expansive territories free and independent. Press Musings: http://pitchfork.com/forkcast/13284-the-dungeness-of-mirrors/ Pitchfork featured a Native Fauna single for their Forkcast section. L.A. Weekly "pick of the night": "Setting the mood for (Jessie) Evans' appearance will be local shape-shifters Native Fauna. Decked out in swanlike robes and gauzy frocks, like a tripped-out Cleopatra, lead singer Cameron Murray conjures entrancing spells that range from dramatic Siouxsie Sioux–style grandeur to a candied Kate Bush melodicism, as her band pumps out music that's simultaneously propulsive, arty and airily magical" –Falling James, L.A. Weekly "Native Fauna makes dark tunes for neat people. This band sounds very promising" –Deathrock.com love: www.facebook.com/nativefauna listen: www.soundcloud.com/nativefauna ~ when all the buildings fall & the sun envelops us all ~
