Grey Monday Biography

Grey Monday is a Swiss Heavy Rock Band playing their own, energetic yet melodic sound, which is mainly influenced by Grunge, Alternative, Stoner and some Metal genres. Needless to say, they do not like grey mondays – actually, they set off to wash these away with their powerful music. After playing more than 100 live shows, Grey Monday have released their second album “Monster Mind”, long anticipated by fans. The release has been celebrated with a very memorable night at the “Mokka” in Grey Monday’s hometown Thun, as well as other concerts around Switzerland. The album has provoked a great response both at these gigs and in the media, including Swiss and German radios, webzines and mags. In addition to some brand-new tracks, it includes a selection of previously unrecorded songs that got the best crowd response over the years. The drums and first rhythm guitars were recorded by V.O. Pulver at Little Creek studios, who also did the mixing and mastering. But the vocals and remaining instruments were recorded at Grey Monday’s home studio over several months, to ensure that quality is not limited by time constraints. The Band’s history started with some cover tunes and concerts in the region of Berne. Grey Monday was founded by guitarist Dominik Pfister and friends, and he soon found a passionate singer in his brother Patrik. After the recording of their first demo in autumn 2004 at the studio of Shakra-guitarist Tom Blunier, Grey Monday started performing more regularly in many different clubs, along with some first big events and festivals. In 2006, the EP “Nonetheless” was produced in the well-known Little Creek studios. The cooperation with V.O. Pulver and Franky Winkelmann worked out really well, such that the band decided to record their first 13-song album ”XIII sharp” at Little Creek again. Songs of this 2008 release were played by more than 45 Swiss and German radio stations, and the response in German clubs was so good that the album stayed in the Top 30 of the official Metal – and Rock-DJ-charts (MRC30) for ten weeks. Also in 2008, Dominik joined the well-known Swiss hard rock band Shakra as a bass player, but stayed with Grey Monday to delight their audience with his expressive guitar playing. The band got reinforced further by the energy of dedicated drummer Stefan Häberli who joined in the same year. The current line-up has been completed by bass player Matthias Tschanz.
