Charlie and the Foxtrots Biography
Based out of Nashville, TN Charlie and the Foxtrots is a meeting of seven musical minds. In January 2013, a chance encounter online introduced Chas Wilson (vocals/guitar) and Rob Hutchison (fiddle). From there they brought together the rest of the ‘Foxtrots’ into the current line up: James Varner (drums/vocals), Matt McClure (bass), Jeremy Webster (piano/vocals), Andrew Mcpheters (banjo/mandolin/trumpet), Josh Ramos (guitar/harmonica/banjo/mandolin). The Folk / Pop group worked at a galloping pace to record their first EP in March of 2013 after the support of a highly successful Kickstarter campaign, officially launching the band in June 2013. A melting pot of sounds, Charlie and the Foxtrots draw on its members influences to create poppy, energetic writing intertwined with country/folk instrumentation reminiscent of Fleet Foxes, Mumford and Sons, Avett Brothers, The Lumineers, and Local Natives. When you attend a live show prepare to be hit with both, a wall of sound they create by blending their unique styles of an electric dynamic alliance, and a broken down “Blugrassy” performance. Since It’s conception the band has gone on to release two EPs, two music videos, and tour across the country, playing everywhere from Florida, to Wisconsin, to Washington, California, Texas, and everywhere between. “A couple of us (Chas, and James) grew up playing music together in small bands throughout high school. We mostly just goofed off, played at bars, and parties in our small Georgia town. We recorded a demo of one song that we wrote together, then posted it on an online music sharing site. From there we met with Rob (fiddle), and put together a concept for the project.” "Hold on tight"
