Shot in the Dark

Shot In The Dark, from Corona/Riverside, California, is an original post-hardcore/metalcore band of young musicians ranging in age from 15 to 20. They are: Jacob Chabot (15) as lead vocalist, Austin Schmidt (20) on lead guitar, Jarod DeShong (16) on drums, and Tana “Spike” Snyder (19) on bass. Shot In The Dark originated in the Spring of 2013, being formed as an “All Star Band” by Robert Gonzalez at West Coast Rock School of Corona, California. All of Shot In The Dark’s members were current students of the school at the time, some of which trained there for several years. Although the members' influences range from hardcore and metal to rap and pop punk, Shot In The Dark's main influences are Avenged Sevenfold, Asking Alexandria, Falling In Reverse and Escape The Fate. Shot In The Dark had played several local shows in Southern California over the summer of 2013, when singer Jacob Chabot then ran into Warped Tour organizer, Kevin Lyman, while attending the Epicenter Festival on September 21, 2013. Jacob excitedly showed Kevin a video of Shot In The Dark on his phone which immediately resulted in Kevin Lyman asking Jacob if he'd like to play Warped Tour. Kevin Lyman then announced via his Twitter feed that Shot In The Dark was the first band booked for the 2014 Vans Warped Tour! Shot In The Dark played the June 20th date of the 2014 Vans Warped Tour in Pomona, which resulted in Kevin Lyman wanting them to play the Ventura date. Shot In The Dark was already booked to play with The Dead Rabbitts on that date. But, they did play the June 25th Chula Vista Vans Warped Tour date. Since forming, Shot In The Dark has played regularly at many venues and events throughout Southern California. In addition to the 2014 Vans Warped Tour, they've also done Wild Wild Fest, Get Busy Living Fest, and events at the House of Blues, M15, Chain Reaction, and The Observatory, just to name a few. The band is booking regularly in Southern California and hoping to tour soon. Among others, they've opened for such bands as The Tubes, Alien Ant Farm, We Came As Romans, SECRETS, The Dead Rabbitts, Assuming We Survive, Escape The Fate, The Word Alive, and Fronzilla. Shot In The Dark won the O.C. Rock Radio‘s Fall Bash For Cash Battle of the Bands in January 2013, and also made it to the final round of the Battle of The Bands to play The Self Help Festival in February 2013. They continue to be invited and play at most events in their genre throughout Southern California. Shot In The Dark was named “Best Local Band” by Inland Empire Magazine, January 01, 2014. Eric Walden on Sound Check 411, March 9, 2014, says "If children are our future, these kids are sending us in the right direction." Brian Bluskye in the Coachella Valley Independent on June 22, 2014 says "On the Hard Rock Kevin Says stage, Shot in the Dark—a band from Corona consisting of four teenagers plus 12-year-old lead singer Jacob Chabot—was quite a sight to see. Jacob had a stage presence that Pennywise would be proud of—and he even went crowd-surfing toward the end of the set. I was floored by how such a small kid could have such a huge stage presence." Shot In The Dark released their first 5-song EP, Memories, in June 2014. It continues to receive great reviews from fans and those in the music industry.
