John Holmes Biography

1. Hailing from Leeds, UK, John Holmes are a blend of driving, brutal rock hardcore covered with reflections of anger and failed life opportunities in guttural anthemic chants. The band started life in 1998, initial conspirators were Bri Holmes (Manfat, Revolt) on Vocals, Dale Holmes (Manfat) on Guitar, Dr. Gords Holmes Phd Hard to Swallow on Bass and last but by no means least, Sneda Holmes (Health Hazard, Suffer) on Drums.

Tours followed with Drop Dead and His Hero Is Gone amongst others and debut album El Louso Suavo (1999) was released on Flat Earth and Devil Rock records, and splits with expirme(n)tal hardcore types CANVAS and also metal bruisers KABINBOY
Having worked with Dr. Gords when he was in Hard to Swallow contacted Household Name Records to collaborate on the second John Holmes album. With Johnny Carter and Paul Yeadon at the recording helm, Everything Went Blacker (2004) was brought to screaming, snarling life.
The band embarked on a UK tour with Boston band Converge destroying attitudes and eardrums as they played, and further shows followed with punk rock legends Poison Idea and F-Minus.

Drummer instability forced the band off the road for most of 2004/2005 and finally the beast died - John Holmes split in February 2006.

2. A solo bassist who plays mainly jazz covers generally with only bass although occasionally other instruments get thrown in the mix.
