William Breakspear

William Breakspear is a British midtempo bass music producer who blends bass aggression with funky nuskool drums and glitchy samples to create a unique yet familiar sound. He started writing and producing with an Atari ST and Akai S950 at the age of 16, using his parent’s record collection of Rock, Soul and Reggae as inspiration. He soon moved to Liverpool get his honours in Sound Technology, whilst producing and DJing with the successful Nu-skool Breaks and DnB crew Entity, and later under solo moniker Slim Blue. In recent times, Breakspear has set up Skanky Panky Records alongside Buddha from SixAM and has released a slew of successful bootlegs, original tracks and official remixes on SPR (UK) and Empathy Recordings (NZ). In May 2012, his first LP; “Bardcore” dropped on Cut La Roc’s imprint Rocstar (UK), which features vocals from Credit To The Nation, Ashley Slater (Freak Power), MC Coppa and more. In 2012, festival appearances at Glade (Meteor Stage), Secret Garden Party (The Drop), Shambala UK (Aurora Stage) saw Breakspear’s DJ / live PA sets bring smiles, leg aches and screwfaces to many a crowdmember. Breakspear’s latest project; “The Royal Breakspear Company”, sees him hosting a collective of some of the most excellent midtempo bassmusic artists worldwide.
