Rebecca Sayre Biography
While Rebecca has earned National praise as a jazz vocalist, her own music blends together elements of Jazz, Folk and Pop. Rebecca’s career as a musician began to take off when she started singing in Nashville’s acclaimed original swing band, BadaBing BadaBoom. Later, she reached #47 on the National JazzWeek Album charts with her solo jazz standards debut, This is Always, which earned praise from radio and critics. But instead of recording another jazz album when the time would seem ripe, she picked up the guitar for the first time in several years and began writing with Eddie Mugavero, BadaBing’s prolific songwriter. The partnership blossomed into her award-winning songwriting debut, New Girl, which blends together elements of jazz, blues and country. Performing Songwriter Magazine called “every song a standout” and Rebecca was praised as “…a stunning new talent.” The title cut was featured in the 2010 season premier of Fox TV’s, So You Think You Can Dance. These tracks have since been added to online music sights such as Pandora Radio and Women of Substance Online Radio, among others. In 2012, she released Play, an EP of 4 tracks where she applies her jazz stylings to 4 tracks and creates a warm blend R & B and Folk. Rebecca continues to work on her songwriting craft, hearing valuable critiques while attending a weekly Song Salon in Nashville, and taking songwriting workshops. While Rebecca is devoting more time to composing and recording music for TV & Film, she still performs occasionally around Nashville and in her home state of California. Recently, Rebecca has teamed up with her cousin, Staci Ericson of GollyGee-pers.com, to co-write an album of jazzy children's manners songs. "...a willowy, jazz-like caress. What's more, her clear, supple vocals make every song a standout.” ~ Performing Songwriter
