The Gobshites Biography

In the 'tradition' of The Pogues, Black 47 and Flogging Molly, The Gobshites might turn an old Irish standard into a rock and roll rave up... but turnabout being fair play, The Gobshites turn the tables and transform old punk rock songs like Black Flag's "Six Pack" or the Ramones "Long Way Back" into Irish sing-alongs.

The Gobshites are a seven-piece punk influenced Irish band from the Boston area. The band currently consists of:

*Pete (vocals, acoustic guitar)
*Betty Widerski (fiddle, backing vocals)
*Ryan (mandolin, harmonica, backing vocals)
*Pret (banjo, backing vocals)
*Stephen (accordion, backing vocals)
*Peter (bass, backing vocals)
*Jay Caffelle (drums)

They've released three independent albums; When The Shite Hits The Fans, Another Round, and Get Bombed. When The Shite Hits The Fans has also been remastered with a tin whistle accompanying the band on many songs. Their music is heavily influenced by bands such as The Pogues and Ramones and ranges from high energy drinking songs like "I Only Drink Stout" and "Pubcrawling" to more somber songs such as The Ramones' "Questioningly" as well as irreverent tunes along the lines of "Pirate Life For Me" and "Friggin' In The Riggin'".

They can currently be seen every Sunday night at Paddy O's on Union Street in downtown Boston, as well as at many other shows listed on their website and MySpace page.
