The Norm Biography

When step-brothers Bryan Rucker and Ryan Bars became family, they realized they had at least one thing in common – music. Born and raised in South Florida, the duo combine their urban roots of hip-hop, rock, and pop to formulate a sound they like to refer to as “hip-rock.” Drawing comparisons to Twenty One Pilots, Macklemore, and Fall Out Boy, the brothers of The Norm most certainly defy the musical “norm”.

Originally from Miami, Rucker grew up in a musical household. His father, Steve Rucker, was a member of the Bee Gees band and played with other music legends such as Michael Jackson, Johnny Cash, and Jaco Pastorious.

Hailing from West Palm Beach, Bars got his music start as an audio engineer, working with accredited producers Supa Dups (Eminem, Bruno Mars, Dirty Heads), Ben Billions (The Weeknd, Rick Ross), and Lou Diaz (FloRida, Pit Bull, DJ Khaled).

The dual frontman band currently resides in Athens, GA where they won the 2017 Flagpole Music Awards Artist of the Year. The Norm has shared the stage with artists such as Shakey Graves, The Revivalists, Moon Taxi, White Denim, Mayday, Arrested Development, and many more. They have released 2 albums: Everyday People (2014) and Normaltown (2016) and their music has been featured on TLC’s “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo” and “Seven Little Johnstons”. Their Normaltown EP was produced by Will Pugh (Cartel) in Nashville, TN. The band is currently working on their next album and fans can expect this to be ready by Fall 2017.
