the stationary set Biography
After a long Brooklyn winter, and nonexistent Spring of writing dirges for the sun, Color Guard formed in the summer of 2015-- on paper, at least. With a line-up identical to that of longstanding indie rock outfit, The Stationary Set, this brand new band— with its brand new single—seems to be feeling brand new these days. Let the record show, so is the sound. The, uproarious, first single "In Your Bones", was produced by veteran producer Andy Baldwin (St.Lucia, Haerts, Oasis etc). It’s a perfect glimpse inside a forthcoming album on the transient nature of following your heart, wrestling the big city to its knees, all driven by exuberant yet clever arrangements and splash-down choruses. Collaborating on several tracks with other like minded producers, these indie pop vets have made good on the assumption that your sound, like the weather, can always change for the better. And it sounds like the sun just came out. Not to say the band has lost touch with its origins-- the crux for these five has always been, and remains to be, the live show. Sweaty and cathartic, Color Guard already has quite a reputation for leaving every measurable amount of energy with it's audience. Having played SXSW, CMJ, and Lollapalooza-- shared stages with diverse artists including The Drums, X Ambassadors, Neon Trees, Phoenix, RZA, Temper Trap, Mumford & Sons, and We Are Scientists-- Color Guard is a rare pop act that was born fully grown, ready to take the stage.
