The Karmens Biography
The Karmens was formed when school & work mates Chris, Andrew & Christian got together to create playful and catchy music that was designed to linger long after it had stopped. Early 2013, The Karmens had already been asked to play at some of Melbourne’s most iconic music venues, including The Corner Hotel and The Workers Club. The Karmens released their debut single ‘Lights’, a funky, sun drenched ‘good-times’ dance track that garnered significant attention in both Australia & abroad. Using this buzz as a platform, The Karmens released their EP in December to a sold out Workers Club. After a bit of a lineup shuffle and an exploration of new synth beats, The Karmens started 2015 off with the release of ‘Falling Sun’, produced by Andrei Eremin (Chet Faker, Oscar Key Sung) and Mark Zito (Fractures) to a packed out Gasometer Hotel. As well as this, The Karmens have notched up supports with GodWolf, LANKS & Tully on Tully, as well as continue writing towards their second EP due for release in 2016. 'Got some nice oomph and energy from the band and the ideas are good' - Dave Ruby Howe, Triple J 'One of the catchiest indie pop bands to show up in a number of years' - Jamsphere 'Thrilling and infectious' - I Heart Moosiq 'Fun and uplifting beats coupled with catchy undertones makes for a great collation of tracks' - AllI'veHeard.com 'Catchy? - yes, good music? - yes. I guess it is a win-win situation' - Stereofox info@thekarmens.com
