The Tickle Mafia Biography
Tickle Mafia started out in an unlikely place, as a jazz combo at the University of Denver. Placed together by chance they immediately threw out the curriculum and started writing and recording funky original music and playing it at house parties. Tickle Mafia collaborated with R&B vocalist Molly Cottrell on their first EP "Funktastic-Hornographic-Plastic-Spastic Love Songs" at the beginning of 2012. Comprised of 4 studio and two live tracks, the album contrasted a funky, feelgood style with lyrics just dark enough to catch the imagination. Halloween of that Year the band began backing burlesque dancers and their style shifted toward, a grittier, jazzy sound; and (after a brief hiatus performing on a cruise ship) the band returned to CO to a monthly burlesque gig, a number of summer music festivals, and a live album recording. Tickle Mafia plays Electro-Swing in the style of Caravan Palace, Gogol Bordello, or The Dresden Dolls. Gypsy jazz with heavy synths & a full brass section
