Tanner Walle Biography
Influenced by some of the world’s most legendary vocalists – Sam Cooke, Joe Cocker, Jeff Buckley and Billie Holiday– Kansan-turned-New Yorker Tanner Walle began making waves with the release of two studio albums just a few years apart – 2004’s It Was followed by 2007’s The Future of Tape. But it wasn’t just from album releases that Tanner began to make his mark; the singer/songwriter was playing both covers and original five nights a week throughout the Midwest, where he began to turn heads with his unique showmanship and spectacular energy on the stage. In 2007, Tanner moved to New York City where he began penetrating the scene with small club gigs and his guitar. “In many ways, I was starting fresh,” Walle adds,” But I found it to be a profound wake-up call to both business sense and my performance.” In Spring 2012, Tanner held a Kickstarter campaign to help release his third studio album entitled Shelf Life. The album release party sold out Rockwood Stage 2, and Walle donated 100% of the proceeds to Education Through Music. Walle most recently finished filming Desafinado, a television series set to air not only on BBC America, but in Portugal, Japan and Brazil. The show features Walle, Madeleine Peyroux, Nellie McKay, Jessie Harris and many other talented songwriters sharing wine, their stories of the music business, and playing songs. Walle is set to release his fourth studio album entitle Bodega this Fall, which explores new territories in his career, with vintage drum samples, synth milieus, and a more glossy dream pop approach.
