The Brooklyn What Biography

The Brooklyn What are a independent rock n' roll band from Brooklyn, NY. Their first album, The Brooklyn What For Borough President was recorded in a few hours and released on their own Pozar Records in 2008. The Gentrification Rock EP was released in 2009 in response to the Atlantic Yards Project. South Brooklyn Singles EP was released in 2010, recorded in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. The BKW have brought their live shenanigans all over New York City and beyond, playing with acts such as The Dead Milkmen, Bob Nastanovich (Pavement/Silver Jews), H.R. (Bad Brains), The Men, Jeffrey Lewis, Peter Stampfel (Holy Modal Rounders/Fugs), Laura Stevenson and The Cans, Japanther, Shellshag, Mischief Brew, Porches, and Kudrow (feat. Jeff from Bomb The Music Industry!) at venues from Bowery Ballroom, Maxwell's, Mercury Lounge and Knitting Factory to DIY landmarks like 285 Kent, Shea Stadium and Death By Audio. Throughout 2012, they recorded their second full length record, "Hot Wine" at Continental Recording Studios in Long Island City, Queens. The album was released digitally and on vinyl record January 15, 2013. "Minor Problems EP" was record at Mama Coco's Funky Kitchen and released in 2014. The new EP "Room" was released in 2015, along with their first ever music video directed by Brian Chillemy. "Minor Problems" EP out now! Listen here: http://thebrooklynwhat.bandcamp.com/
